01 / THE CONTEXT

The challenge.

The UR money project needed maintenance work and investigation of its database needs.

02 / ENGAGEMENT FOCUS

Where the work focused.

The contract combined bug fixing with database research. These are recorded as a separate engagement from the longer mobile and wallet contracts.

03 / THE ENGINEERING

Technology & trade-offs.

My engineering perspective: what each approach helps solve, and what needs care.

Database research: start with the question and access pattern

I connect a database investigation to the behavior that needs explaining: the data shape, the relevant query, and the result the application expects.

The trade-off: A database choice or index is useful only in relation to the actual reads, writes, and consistency requirements.

Bug fixes: turn findings into a checkable change

A useful investigation produces a reproducible case and a clear way to verify a correction. That keeps the next engineering step connected to the original problem.

The trade-off: Changing storage behavior can affect existing data and callers. The verification needs to account for those dependencies.
