MOBILE / CROSS-PLATFORM

My role

Mobile application developer

01 / THE CONTEXT

The challenge.

The client engaged support to correct behavior in a mobile application.

02 / ENGAGEMENT FOCUS

Where the work focused.

This contract records mobile application corrections over the later 2017 engagement. It remains a separate record from the short March 27 contract with the same title.

03 / THE ENGINEERING

Technology & trade-offs.

My engineering perspective: what each approach helps solve, and what needs care.

Mobile corrections: reproduce the sequence, not just the screen

I trace the actions and state changes leading to a problem. Repeating that sequence after the fix provides a concrete check against the reported behavior.

The trade-off: A correction can affect the next interaction. Nearby navigation and state transitions belong in the verification.

State transitions: make changes inspectable

Explicit state changes help explain why a mobile interface reached the wrong state. Redux is one example of a tool for inspecting those transitions in a React-based application.

The trade-off: Example option: adding a library is not a substitute for understanding the existing state model.

Example tools: Redux. These illustrate the reasoning; historical use on this project is not established.
