01 / THE CONTEXT

The challenge.

A startup was developing a mobile app using Ionic 2, Angular 2, Firebase, and TypeScript and needed help adding features toward launch.

Helping the mobile app reach launch

I contributed to the application's creation and launch. The client highlighted my attention to detail and work with Ionic, TypeScript, and Node. This was my first Upwork project.

Ionic + TypeScript: connect mobile UI to maintainable code

I contributed to the application’s creation and launch using the skills the client highlighted: Ionic, TypeScript, and Node.js. TypeScript helps make expected data shapes explicit during development.

The trade-off: Static types do not validate incoming data at runtime. API boundaries still need checks.

Node.js: give the mobile client a clear service boundary

A mobile application benefits from consistent server responses and well-defined responsibilities. I keep privileged operations and validation in the server layer.

The trade-off: Mobile connections are variable. Interface behavior needs to account for waiting, failed requests, and recovery.
